fake wedding roleplay/larp/party/bring a ninja and win a prize thing

September 25th, 2008 (05:35 am)

Post wedding, life is a little brighter and a little warmer.Barry organized and hosted (with the help of so many other people) a really amazing live wedding role play event thing. About 35 people gathered at the Old Church in downtown Portland to participate as brides, grooms, bitter best friends, secret lovers, feuding parents,  journalists, gamblers, ninja, way to young step mothers, time travelers, flower girls, homeless perverts, civil war veterans and imaginary pirates. I was lucky enough to get to play the minister and officiate the ceremony! Picture below.

You can see more photos (and links to even more photos and videos) on here! I really hope we do this again next year!

Damn, I should have thought to invite you Jesse. It was really fun.

We started at about 6 and went till about 10. The basic idea was that the bride is 8 months pregnant and has to marry someone before the baby comes. Enter Michael, a young man she met just a few months ago. The night started with the super delayed wedding rehearsal, then continued immediately onto the actual ceremony. the ceremony was a little bumpy, with the bride leaving the alter for a short break, the groom reading off reasons why he MUST marry the bride (written on the back of a M4M personal ad), general bickering and unpleasantness between the wedding party and a fight between a pirate and a vampire!

The reception followed, with too much stuff happening for me to keep track of or report.

Good times.
